My Life Journey
Autobiographical Narrative
There are many attributes and qualities one possesses that make them their own person. As well as the people they surround themselves with. Everyone has a free will and they get to choose who can shape and inspire their goals and dreams. I myself have a few people that have truly motivated me and influence my decisions along with certain situations and experiences. High school has blessed me with experiences to live and learn by. My contemplation, intuition, and self-inquiry have derived me from what once was a lost girl with on clear future to somebody that’s carved their path with stone. With the help from the right people, I was able to achieve many goals, and conquer the toughest obstacles. From losing well respected friends, to gaining a deeper friendship with another; from finding someone you can share your journey with, to minor setbacks – these are the building block of the person I am today.
Ever since I was in elementary school I knew everything I did and learned from school would be important. Never did I think that the time and energy I spent at school would go to waste. I knew from the gecko that in order to be successful you would need to work hard; try hard. That is what I intend to do. One does not simply learn the value of life and knowledge by just reading textbooks and hearing about it. One must experience loss and failure; success and accomplishments; pride and joy, to
know how to overcome certain situations. I have lost plenty of things and people throughout my high school career. I never thought that I would lose a friend that was really important to me and made my high school career worthwhile. I lost a well-respected friend; however, I gained another friendship. I have got really close to a friend that share the same dreams as I do; our friendship is more than just partying and gossiping. It’s about long nights at each other’s house studying and constantly motivating each other to be the greatest person we can possibly be. Having a friend that shares the same dreams and aspirations gives you the opportunity to use each other as moral support and to work together. I learned that it doesn’t matter about how many people you surround yourself with; it’s the type of people you surround yourself with. Surround yourself with people that have long-term goals. These people are the ones who will push you to want to become successful. These are the people that influence you. These are the people you will remember.
My ultimate goal for the year of 2015 is to complete high school in the first semester of my senior year. I thought about it a lot; starting my freshman year. My older brother, Angel, graduated one semester early as well; which is why I thought it was possible graduating one semester early. I dwelled on the idea for five semesters. I never thought of taking action; until I met someone that's been helping me and pushing me to fulfil my dream. In the second semester of my sophomore year, I tried to take a US History coarse at Porterville college so I can be well ahead with history when I start my Junior year. I did all the paperwork to enroll as a concruent high school student at Porterville College. However, the
lady in the Admissions office messed up my whole process. I wasn’t allowed to regester for classes ‘til I’ve taken the placement test. The thing with that, though, is my other two friends were able to take a class without the placement test. I was really upset because I knew it would be the first step to completing high school early, but it wasn’t my only chance. I have another chance to knock some of my high school courses off during the summer of 2015. With the help of a special friend, Isaac, I was able to move forward with my plans. He was the one who reassured me and reminded me every day to schedule my placement test; I called and got one set up on the same day as his. We took the test together, and I scored pretty high. I’m glad I got that out of the way ahead of time! He bugged me about making an appointment with my counselor and requesting an official transcript so I can be set for Open Registration; I didn’t get lazy and did just that. He helped me organize my plan and thoughts when he didn’t have to. He motivated me to speak to my English teacher about starting English 12a now as a Junior to speed up the process. Although it is a lot of work, I feel confident in what I’m doing when he sits next to me at Starbucks for 3 hours straight doing nothing but homework. I never thought it was possible for me to focus for more than one hour! But I’m doing it! My goals and plans are on full ride. Time is going by and I’m getting stuff done, and I’m glad I have someone like him in my life. He’s not holing me back from anything; instead, he’s pushing me and motivating me. With my current situation, I learned that getting everything done ahead of time will prevent things like what happened last summer from happening. Its taught me to be a more organized, well-rounded person.
Having people that will stand by your side when high school gets rough is very comforting. I’m glad I have plenty of those people. I owe it all to those people; my future, success, support. They are the reasons why I’m not going through this whole process alone. A lot of life lessons are being thrown at me, but with the support and my strong will, I’m able to overcome them and move on from them.
